November 26, 2020. The Municipal Government of Alajuela in Costa Rica held an extraordinary session to honor the Vice Mayor, Sofia Gonzalez Barquero, and Mayor, the Honorable Humberto Soto Herrera. Held at the Municipal Theory with the attendance of councilmembers and other local government officials, the event included a cultural presentation and two speeches by representatives of the Catholic University of New Spain. The Chaplain of the University of New Spain explained the importance of the shared Spanish heritage of the Hispano American nations. Both the Mayor and Vice Mayor joined the University as Fellows and as corresponding academicians of the International Academy of Social Sciences.
